Admiral Ben Moreel became the highest ranking Jew in the U.S. Navy when he achieved the rank of 4-star admiral. Moreel enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War I as a lieutenant Junior grade (Lt.-jg.). He fought in both World War I and World War II. Ben was in charge of the Civil Engineering Corps during WWII. He also was the founder of the elite naval unit, the Seabees.
